Confirm Pool Surface, Drains and Deck are in good condition – Confirm compliant anti-entrapment covers are in place, secure, and free of visible damage or blockage. Look for wear and damage to the pool surface and deck, trip and slip hazards, calcium buildup, and loose tiles.
Inspect Pool Equipment Area – Monitor pumps, heater, and chemical storage areas to ensure that the equipment is working properly without leaks.
Test and Balance Water Chemistry and Confirm Pool Water Visibility and – Ensure chemical levels (chlorine, pH, alkalinity) are safe and appropriate for swimmers of residential pools – Water should be clear enough to see the bottom, for murky water is a major safety concern.
Check Skimmers and Return Line Covers – Ensure they are secure and free of sharp edges or cracks and empty skimmer baskets
Inspect Pool Lighting – Check for exposed wiring, broken fixtures, or waterlogged lights—especially underwater lighting.
Verify Rescue Equipment is Present and Functional – Check for a life ring, shepherd’s hook, or other safety tools, and ensure they are easily accessible
Check gutters for accumulated debris – Clogged gutters can lead to improper drainage and water to your home’s structure, for a very simple fix of cleaning the gutters can prevent expensive damages down the road
Check for excessive and amassed dirt and grime on the pool deck and outdoor furniture and unsightly stains on concrete
